The film begins with a news report from 1998, the year that Greggs Bakery, one of the last remaining shops in the area closed down, and covers the story of how the community took it over and developed it into to the brilliant community cafe that it is today.

While Community Café deepened its roots in Chicago, IMAN extends its branches in New York City with a very special Community Café at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem. After an incredibly successful Community Café at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial Center in January of 2009, we are returning to New York on January 23rd of 2010 for our grandest edition of Community Café yet, God willing! www.imancentral.org

Then we also have a vegetarian option, which does not include the bacon and sausage but has a vegetarian sausage and a hash brown which is like a fried potato cake."
